Joel is a recognized mentor and leader in the local PR community, helping executives and organizations navigate their visibility, brands and reputations within highly regulated industries such as health care, technology, and education. At RPR Joel has developed strategic PR and digital initiatives for such notable organizations as Allina Hospitals & Clinics, Baxter Healthcare, BioBusiness Alliance of Minnesota, Healthways, Mechdyne, Metro Dentalcare, Star Tribune, and more. Joel gained national media attention in 2011 for the launch of a convenience product, GoGirl, which was honored with a SABRE award, a Bronze Clio Healthcare Award and named Consumer Products Industry Campaign of the Year by Minnesota PRSA.

Joel joined Risdall in 2007, previously leading strategic public relations planning, executing and measurement for several areas of Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Minnesota, where he helped launch and promote of such prominent brand initiatives as the “do.” Campaign, Fitness Fever and Champions of Health. He holds bachelors’ degrees in mass communications, public relations sequences, and business management from St. Cloud State University and a master’s degree in philosophy and theology from Bethel University. Joel serves an adjunct professor at St. Cloud State University and serves on the Boards and leadership roles for Clearway Minnesota and Ronald McDonald House Charities, Upper Midwest. Joel is the incoming President of the Minnesota Chapter of the Public Relations Society of America.
